Kesi is in her second year of teaching full time. She currently teaches high school English at Bard High School Early College Manhattan (her alma mater), a collaborative socratic seminar at Urban Assembly School of Music and Art, and Creative Writing 101 at Gotham Writers Workshop in New York City.
She tried her hand at teaching for the SHSAT and SAT. Despite enjoying meeting a variety of students in New York and New Jersey, Kesi finds this work to be too demoralizing for her to continue with it in a professional capacity. She is happiest when exploring ways to ignite students’ excitement about making connections between seemingly unrelated texts, questioning authority and master narratives, using multimedia as source material, and fostering social and emotional learning.
