Kesi is in her third year of teaching high school full time. She currently teaches the Bard Sequence at Urban Assembly School of Music and Art. She previously taught at Bard High School Early College Manhattan (2017-2019) and sporadically teaches Creative Writing 101 at Gotham Writers Workshop in New York City.
Kesi tried her hand at teaching for the SHSAT and SAT. Despite enjoying meeting a variety of students in New York and New Jersey through this work, Kesi finds this work to be too demoralizing for her to continue with it in a professional capacity. She is happiest when exploring ways to ignite students’ excitement about making connections between seemingly unrelated texts, questioning authority and master narratives, using multimedia as source material, and fostering social and emotional learning.
